We saw this way back on March 15, 2025. Why am I reposting it now?
Because it is a brilliant way to promote your event early, but announcing the GOAT of the marathon, Eliud Kipchoge, one of our finest marathoners and a great interviewee, was running the TCS Sydney Marathon is such a smart thing!

Eliud is loved by athletes who are fast and slow, old and new to the sport.
One of Nike’s smartest actions was bringing Eliud to events outside of the Olympics, such as the London Marathon, Berlin Marathon, and Tokyo Marathon. When Eliud ran Boston, he showed that he would gut it out. The average marathoner got that.
Well done, NIKE and TCS Sydney Marathon.
Kipchoge for the Sydney Marathon

NIJMEGEN (NED): NN Running Team athlete and double Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge is all set for a new chapter in his incomparable marathon journey as he heads Down Under to compete at the TCS Sydney Marathon on Sunday, 31 August 2025. “I am so excited,” said Kipchoge. “This is not only my first time racing the TCS Sydney Marathon, but also my first time running in Oceania. Competing in Australia is a huge opportunity for me. Sydney looks like a stunning city with so many iconic sights. It’s going to be a new and special experience for me.” Looking ahead, Kipchoge will next compete at the TCS London Marathon on Sunday, 27 April, followed by the TCS Sydney Marathon on Sunday, 31 August, which will debut in World Marathon Majors.
Okay, I went into our archives and pulled this gem out from 2018: Decathlon World record and marathon world record in two days! Kevin Mayer sets Decathlon WR and Eliud Kipchoge runs WR in Marathon! Enjoy!
