Things that struck me on day 2
Grant Holloway won 60m Hurdles. I mean, he doesn’t always win, I understand that he lost a race indoors in 2014.

It is official Jakob Ingebrigtsen had fun today. He said so after winning the 3000m. He also said that he does not like the 3000m because it’s too long. Apparently he’s also running the 1500m so he must have an outside chance of winning that one.

The women’s 400 was an absolute cracker with Amber Anning beating Alexis Holmes by 0.03. There was contact between the two as they broke from the stagger at the end of the first lap. It was a great consolation for Anning who ran beautifully at the European indoors only to be DQed for a lane violation.

Congratulations to Emmanouil Karalis of Greece on his national record 6:05. Unfortunately for him Mr Duplantis cleared. 6.15. Mondo does not always clear 6 meters, this was only the 100th time he has done it.

The women’s pole vault was exciting – and would have been a lot more exciting had the mechanism for raising the bar not broken and taken an hour to repair.

The women’s triple jump was won by Leyanis PÉREZ HERNÁNDEZ. The men’s winner was Andy DÍAZ HERNÁNDEZ. RunBlogRun is currently checking the World Athletics rules to see if you have to be called HERNÁNDEZ to win it.

America took all three medals in the men’s 400m – Bailey, Faust and Patterson. Team USA must have a chance in the 4 by 400 relay.

The last time there was a 1-2-3 at the World Indoors was the 1500m in 2022 when Ethiopia took all the medals with Gudaf Tsegay, Axumawit Embaye and Hirut Meshesha. This year Ethiopia had to settle for one medal – gold – for Freweyni.
