2 short-track World records by Ingebrigtsen 3:45.14 & 3:29.63
LIÉVIN (FRA, Feb 13): Wonderful athletic night at the Arena Stade Couvert in Liévin during the Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais Trophée EDF (WIT Gold, whole house 5000 spectators) was crowned by two world records by Jakob Ingebrigtsen during one race. Jakob took the lead after 1000m (2:20.49) and crossed the finish line in a world record of 3:45.14, beating the previous best of Nuguse by 1.49sec. More than 7sec. Behind was second Stefan Nillessen in 3:52.70, short track NR for the Netherlands, indoor NRs for fifth Tshepo Tshite of South Africa (3:54.10), and seventh Poland’s Filip Rak (3:55.57). In the 1500m split, Jakob’s first sub-3:30 short-track time and another WR with 3:29.63.

In addition, there were also two World U20 records, and world leads in 9 of 16 disciplines. Freweyni Hailu, in 8:19.98 WL/PB, clearly defeated Gudaf Tsegay (8:25.12) in the 3000m, third Birke Haylom clocked an overall U20WR of 8:25.37, third Nadia Battocletti (8:30.82 NR), and in the 1500m a world lead for Diribe Welteji (3:58.89). World lead in the 60m hurdles by Ackera Nugent in 7.75 ahead of Grace Stark (7.82) and Laeticia Bapté (7.85, 7.82 EL/PB in heats) and Grant Holloway in 7.36 over Wilhem Belocian (7.46), and world lead also for Lieke Klaver 50.76 in the 400m.

Three world leads also in the field events: Katie Moon cleared 483 (tried at 490) over Molly Caudery (475 EL) in the pole vault, Leyanis Pérez Hernández 14.62 in the triple jump, and Leonardo Fabbri 21.95 ahead of Zane Weir (21.72) in the shot put. Niels Laros won the 3000m in 7:29.49 NR ahead of Biniam Mehary (7:29.99 U20 short-track WR/PB), Azeddine Habz topped the 1500m in 3:32.29 from Isaac Nader (3:32.59 short/track NR). The 800m wins for Tsige Duguma in 1:59.02 over Prudence Sekgodiso (1:59.88 short-track NR=), and for Eliott Crestan (1:44.81) over Bryce Hoppel (1:44.98). Erik Erlandsson was the fastest in the 200m heats in 20.45, and in another heat, Erriyon Knighton (20.54). Ersu Sasma cleared 590 NR= in the pole vault on his last saved attempt and surpassed Sam Kendricks (585), Zhang Mingkun 804 (803 second best) defeated Miltiadis Tentoglou 804 (800) in the long jump.
