This is my daily chat with #RunBlogRun viewers and track fans on all things track & field!
This is Coffee with Larry for Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
Coffee with Larry is sponsored by OMIUS, the cooling technology partner of RunBlogRun.
OMIUS makes hats, visors, and headbands that keep athletes cool during strenuous exercise. Using a technology that mimics how humans sweat, OMIUS builds these products, which must be moistened every 30-45 minutes during a workout or race! Sifan Hassan used the head band during her Paris Marathon.

Our topics;
1. The Karsten Warholm vs Mondo Duplantis exhibition 100m, sponsored by Red Bull and PUMA, drew 3000 today. Duplantis lead from the gun, thanks to a masterful start. Duplantis ran 10.37 to Warholm’s 10.47 and announced right after that he could run 10.25 and then challenged Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone to a 400 meters!
A perfect start kept Mondo in the lead all the way to win the 100m showdown. Duplantis finishes with 10.37, just ahead of Warholm’s 10.47. 🏁

2. Sydney Mclaughlin-Levrone was announced to be racing in Ivo Van Damme DL Final. She is not. As she did not run one DL event in 2024, she is not elgible. She will race a non DL 200m and 400m prior to the meet!
3. The sad thing is this. The Diamond League needs Sydney but SML does not really need the Diamond League. Until the DL makes their series unmissable, they will have incidents like this.
4. The NB Fifth Avenue Mile is September 8, 2024. Josh Kerr is the big star for the event.
5. The Athlos meeting is September 26, 2024. Six big races at Icahn Stadium.
