Week 2, Day 1, Recovery Week One
Today, take a 30-minute run or 45-minute walk.
This is the beginning of the second week of our two—to three-week recovery time. The idea is to get a physical, mental, and spiritual break. We read books, nap, goof off, and get outside and enjoy nature.
The workouts will be three days a week, and you can walk or bike to get you moving.
Each day, we will have an inspirational story for you.
Hobbs Kessler is one of the finest milers in America.
He came onto the scene as an amazing high school miler. I recall seeing him racing with Nick Willis, a two-time Olympic medalist at the 1,500 meters, with Hobbs breaking the four-minute mile indoors. Nick Willis noted just how talented this young man is, and as Willis is not prone to hyperbole, many listened. Nick was right.
I was blown away by his talent at the Portland Track Classic in 2021. His new American U 20 and high school record for the 1,500m, 3 34.6, was impressive.
Hobbs was quickly picked up by adidas, foregoing his collegiate career (he had signed at NAU), and now, coached by Ron Warnhurst, one of the finest middle distance coaches in the world, Hobbs runs for the Very Nice Track Club.
He has since won the gold medal at the World Athletics Road Mile Championships in October 2023 and took the bronze at the World Indoor 1500m in Glasgow, Scotland, in March 2024.
This week, his eyes are set on making his first Olympic team at the 1,500m!
Good luck, Hobbs!

A 30-minute easy run.
If you need something to do outside (it is hot today), walk 30 minutes early, ride a bike, or, best yet, take an easy swim and enjoy the day!
