Larry’s Deep Thoughts: Recover days mean a lot in training. The consistency of your hard days and the consistency of your recovery days will pay out well in April and May racing!
In the Women’s 3,000m last weekend in Glasgow, Scotland. Elle St. Pierre won the gold medal at 3,000 meters, upsetting a two time World record holder, Olympic medalist and World Champion, Gudaf Tsegay. In two days, Elle will celebrate her son’s first birthday, Ivan. Elle had four races prior to the World Indoor Champs: on February 4, Elle took second in 3000 meters in Boston, then set a new American record at the mile at the Millrose Games. On Feb 16, Elle won the 3000m at the US Indoor Champs to make the team for Glasgow. Her race in Glasgow was brilliant, and her move with two laps to go, followed by a tough last 200 meters, gave her the gold. Elle St. Pierre is part of the New Balance-sponsored Team Boston, which had two medals in Glasgow, Elle’s gold and Emily Mackay taking bronze in the 1,500m. Pretty cool for one small club in Boston!
