Larry’s Deep Thoughts:
Today, over 1.1 million boys and girls, 14-18, will begin their outdoor seasons in track and field. This begins all over the country. The first few weeks may feel like crap, but you just muscle through it. Get new shoes, and make sure that you stretch, hydrate, and actually listen to your coaches. One survey I read noted that the average high school athlete quits sport if injured for more than seven straight days. Get over it. When you go from inactive for six months to active, you are going to hurt, regardless of age. Hydrate, rest, and get your workouts in. Be patient.
