Cross country is one of the oldest. And the most iconic part of our sport of athletics. Runners from 400m (including 400m hurdles and decathlon) on up can benefit from cross country.
The late Bud Winter, the famous coach of San Jose State, had the late 400m WR holder Lee Evans run cross country. When I was coaching with Joe Managan at Foothill Community College, we had our decathlete and our 400m guys run cross country.
