PARIS (FRA): Sold-out Charlety Stadium saw two world records and one world best within a few hours. Faith Kipyegon added a second WR within a week, and Lamecha Girma destroyed the wave light in the steeple. Jakob Ingebrigtsen improved 2 miles best after 26 years. In addition to the world records and bests, there were also two other world leads and two meeting records. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Marcell Jacobs failed to win.

Men
100m – Noah Lyles holds off Ferdinand Omanyala, 9.97 (-0.9) to 9.98. Marcell Jacobs opens with a 10.21 in seventh.
800m – Emmanuel Wanyonyi wins a deep 800m in a world lead of 1:43.27 over Marco Arop (1:43.30), one of seven athletes under the 1:44-barrier. Five of the top seven set lifetime bests.
Two miles – Jakob Ingebrigtsen destroyed Daniel Komen’s world best of 7:58.61 with 7:54.10 to win by 15 seconds from Kenya’s Ishmael Kipkurui (8:09.23). Ingebrigtsen’s 3000m intermediate is officially 7:24.00, the new European record.
110m hurdles – Grant Holloway becomes the first athlete to break the 13 second-barrier this year with 12.98 (-0.6). France’s Just Kwaou-Mathey improves to a European lead and PB of 13.09 in the second.
400m hurdles – CJ Allen continues his winning form with victory in 47.92 ahead of Wilfred Happio (48.26 EL). Abderrahman Alsaleck (Samba) pulled up injured before the first hurdle.
3000m steeplechase – Third record of the night! Lamecha Girma breaks Saif Saeed Shaheen’s 19-year-old world record with 7:52.11. Ryuji Miura was second in a Japanese record of 8:09.91. Also, a Tunisian record for Mohamed Jhinaoui (8:12.19) in fifth, and four other personal bests within the top eleven runners below 8:20.
Long jump – Miltiadis Tentoglou edges out Simon Ehammer for the victory, 813 (0.1) to 811 (-0.1).
Women
200m – A US 1-2 for Gabby Thomas in 22.05 (-0.4) and Abby Steiner (22.34), third Marie-Josee Ta Lou (22.34).
400m – Marileidy Paulino reeled in the fast-starting Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone for victory in a new meet record of 49.12 (23.43/25.69 to McLaughlin’s new personal best of 49.71 (22.66/27.05). Salwa Eid Naser was third in 49.95. Yet another lifetime best of 50.82 for Anna Hall in seventh, after clearing 191 in the high jump.
800m – What a season’s debut for Keely Hodgkinson! In her first race since the European Indoors, Hodgkinson wins in a British record and world lead of 1:55.77 by more than two seconds from Ajee Wilson (1:58.16). Also fast times in deeper field with 9 women sub-2:00, fifth Noelie Yarigo with NR for Benin at 1:58.65.
5000m – Her second world record of the month! Faith Kipyegon wins in 14:05.20 to beat previous world record-holder Letesenbet Gidey (14:07.94) and Ejgayehu Taye (14:13.31). Her last kilometer was 2:43.17. Only Kipyegon and Gidey managed to keep the pace set by steeple WR holder Beatrice Chepkoech (3000m in 8:31.91). The top eleven runners finished under 15 minutes, seven of them with personal bests, including Laura Muir (14:48.14) in 11th.
High jump – Nicole Olyslagers clears 200 on her third attempt to beat Vashti Cunningham with 197. Angelina Topic, 17, also cleared a 197 for a Serbian record.
Pole vault – Nina Kennedy cleared 477 for victory ahead of France’s Margot Chevrier, who cleared a PB of 471. After back-to-back Diamond League wins, Katie Moon had to settle for third with 471.
Shot put – Back-to-back Diamond League wins for Auriol Dongmo, who wins with a season’s best of 19.72 ahead of world champion Chase Ealey (19.43).
Discus – Valarie Allman improves her meeting record to 69.04 for victory over Sandra Perkovic, who throws 65.18 on her season’s debut.
Javelin – Victory for Haruka Kitaguchi with 65.09 ahead of world champion Kelsey-Lee Barber (62.54).
