Ealey 19.75, fast windy sprints
NYIREGYHAZA (HUN, Jun 11): World champion Chase Ealey won the shot put at the Hungarian Grand Prix series (WACT Bronze) with 19.75m from home favorite Anita Marton, who set a season’s best of 18.26m. There were also fast times in the sprints, but almost all of them were wind-assisted. Liberia’s Emmanuel Matadi won the 100m in 10.11 (2.4), USA’s Elijah Morrow won the 200m in 20.53 (3.0), and Cuba’s Roger Iribarne won the 110m hurdles in 13.33 (3.1). On the women’s side, Shannon Ray won the 100m in 11.06 (3.3) ahead of Hungarian record-holder Boglarka Takacs (11.10), who went on to win the 200m in 23.01 (2.2). However, Viktoria Forster was luckier with the wind, winning the 100m hurdles in a Slovak record of 12.88 (0.4) ahead of Greta Kerekes’s 12.93, who equaled her PB. Other highlights included Diana Lesti winning the long jump with another wind-assisted 6.72m (4.7) from, Petra Farkas with 6.67m (3.6) and South Africa’s Victor Hogan winning the discus with 66.01m. Jamaican Shiann Salmon won the 400 m hurdles in windy conditions at 56.82.
