This is the last couple of weeks of the season.
We end around the High School Champs weekend, June 15-18, 2023.
Then, we do a couple weeks of recovery and begin summer mileage in July.
This is Monday, June 5, 2023.
This is a recovery day.
Your workout today is warm-up slowly, 17 sit-ups, pull-ups, push-ups, 45-55 minutes of running, 6 x 150-meter stride outs, then a slow cooldown.
I wanted to tell you about Abdi Nur. On Friday, May 26, Abdi fell within 200 meters of the start of a crowded 5,000 meters at the LA Grand Prix.
Abdi immediately got up, moved back up into the front back, and battled for the win, running 13:05.17, three seconds under the qualifier for the World Champs in Budapest.
I spoke with Abdi post-race and asked him if he had any second thoughts after he fell. He said he got up so fast because he knew he was fit and that he had time to get his race goal.
Never give up!
