When I began running, in 1972, there were just a few brands, adidas, PUMA, Onitsuka Tiger, New Balance and Nike was just a twinkle in the eyes of Phil Knight and Bill Bowerman. I recall the 9190 in 1974, which I had tried, and I recall training in PUMA in the 1980s at the suggestion of Mark Nenow, the AR at 10,000 meters.
PUMA has been around since 1948, born of the same family, the Dasslers, that gave us adidas.
PUMA has had a history in running and track & field since its birth and has also developed a sports lifestyle, which combines fashion and function.
What I am happy to see is that PUMA is focused on Running in North America, with the Velocity 2 and the new Magnify, both shoes show an attention to detail, in terms of function, comfort and presentation.
PUMA is also committing many resources to the sport, building its ability to communicate with runners across North America, and supporting some fine athletes, such as Molly Seidel in the US, Mondo Duplantis and Karston Warholm in Norway, and a strong group of French athletes as the brand builds for Paris 2024.
What to I like about the Magnify? Well, everything, the fit, the feel, the look. As I walk in the tundra that is now Wisconsin in January and February, I am impressed with the fit, the ride and how great my heel feels in the shoe.
I suggest that our readers take a look at PUMA Running and really check out the PUMA brand. I also suggest that you visit a real brick-and-mortar running store and try several models and several brands. Ask for the PUMA brand and check out the Velocity 2 Nitro and the Magnify Nitro. I think that you will be pleasantly surprised.
The PUMA Magnify NItro is a structured ride, with a strong cushioning. PUMA has been bragging about the cushioning from the Nitro technology and they are right. They are putting products into the running culture that should be considered by all performance runners.
