This was supposed to be an off year at the USATF Indoor Championships. Au contraire, mes amis. Keen observers were fortunate to see an AR by Anne Hall in the pentathlon, scoring 5,004 points, missing the WR by only nine points on February 16, 2023. On February 17, 2023, DeAnna Price, 2019 WC at the hammer throw, destroyed the WR in the weight throw with a massive 26.02 meter throw/85 feet, 4.5 inches! On February 18, 2023, Aleia Hobbs won the 60m and set an AR, the number 2 times ever at 6.94m!
On top of that, the NBC broadcast was excellent, giving the US audience an intimate view of the three ring circus that make track & field so frustrating to watch and so fascinating to experience, all at the same time!
