This is Tuesday, February 7, 2023.
It is day two, Week Six of the 2023 RunBlogRun Winter Training block.
Fartlek is a gift from the late Gosta Holmer, Swedish Olympian, and coach, who used his invention on the Swedish cross-country team.
Today is a speed play day.
Pretend you are in a Swedish forest, running along trails.
Warm up well, and in your 50-minute fartlek run, run two minutes hard, 3 minutes recovery, ten times, charge up a hill, run whatever fun trail you can find, just push yourself, and then, do a slow cooldown. Remember to hydrate and change into warm clothes post-workout.
