Europe is one of the early supporters of cross-country. The SPAR European Athletics Cross Country Championships is one of the largest continental cross-country championships, with 54 associations as members of the continental federation. The Championships are held each and every December, and the races are spectacular. The 2024 EA Champs will be held in Turkey for the first time.
The European Athletics Federation has revitalized athletics in Europe. That does not mean that there are no issues in Europe, but the EA is looking at the sport and its challenges in a mostly realistic fashion.

WARSZAWA (POL): The European Athletics Council has awarded the 2024 SPAR European Cross Country Championships to Antalya in Turkey. This will be the first time in event history that Turkey will have staged the championships, which are scheduled to take place on 8 December 2024.
