This is Coffee with Larry. Our topic for October 27, 2022, is Nnenna Lynch and the story about her in the New York Times.
RunBlogRun began this program. Via FB LIVE in June 2022 and now embeds the entire program on our blog, RunBlogRun
It is a news show and the opinions of Larry Eder, group editor and co-founder of RunBlogRun.
This is my daily chat with #RunBlogRun viewers and track fans on all things track & field!
This is #CoffeeWithLarry for Thursday, October 27, 2022.
2. Nnenna Lynch had a positive test 26 years ago for pseudoephedrine, which was used in Excedrin, and took a 3-month punishment.
3. The NYRR has this Zero Tolerance Policy on drugs, a nice thing to say, but welcome to the real world.
4. Nnenna Lynch should become the Chairman of the Board of NYRR. This is a big deal, with women leading a major sports organization.
5. I do not understand why Nnenna, George Hirsch, and NYRR are not speaking to the media.
6. My contacts suggest that someone with a gripe provided this info to NYT.
7. It could just be that NYT did their job and dug this up, but the timing sounds suspicious.
8. Should be a learning moment. How about NYRR sponsor an honest conversation about cheating?
9. This is a factual story, but the doping angle is a bit much. She got a slap on the hand in 1996, and now, in a very different world, she is featured around the globe on the NYT in a fashion that has to be frustrating.
