Tempo workouts are on the key workouts to success for many distance runners. Athletes from the 800m to the marathon use tempo runs. In Cross Country, we keep the workout simple. Twenty minutes on the track, or a safe, flat surface, run at 20 seconds above the average mile page in your current 5k race pace.
Your workout today is a good warm-up, a 30-minute moderate run, then move to the track, complete a 20-minute Tempo Run, finish with fifteen minutes of moderate running, and cool down slowly.
