Today is race day across the U.S.A. Cross country is everywhere! Most races for the 560,000 14-18-year-old boys and girls in high school cross country are 2.5 miles to 5k. We ran 1.9 to 2.2 miles when I was in high school (ages ago!).
So, cross country is about getting your primal running thing going!
Your workout today, warm up, 5k XC race, where you get out hard, push the downhills, and kick from about 500m from the finish, increasing each 100m, then, breathe, get in 30-40 minutes of modest running and cooldown.
