This is an interview of bronze medalist Laura Muir, W 1,500 meters, from Day 4 by EBU RADIO.
Laura Muir won her first World Champs medals after so many close calls! How sweet it must be. The 2018 European Outdoor Champion at 1,500 meters chased Guday Tsegay and Faith Kipyegon through a 55 first lap, a 2:03 for 800 meters, and 3:07 at 1,200 meters!
Laura Muir kept her cool and held on to take the bronze in the 1,500 meters, as Faith Kipyegon took gold and Guday Tsegay took the silver.
For the Scottish athlete, it was a superb performance, and when I saw her coach the very next day, Andy Young was beaming! Laura Muir handles the pressure of being an elite athlete in the UK with poise, a sense of humor, and patience.
Laura Muir is now in Birmingham, England, for the Commonwealth Games (August 2-7) and then, off to Muchi for the European Athletics Champs (August 15-21, 2022).
This interview was done in the Mixed Zone right after her race by the EBU Radio team.
