This is a picture of Hillary Bor and Evan Jager. Hillary Bor won the USATF Steeplechase on Saturday, June 25, 2022 and Evan Jager placed second.
Evan Jager is the American record holder at the steeplechase, in 8:00.45, I was there, watching that brilliant race in 2015 at the AREVA Meeting de Paris. Over the final barrier, Evan fell, got up and ran through the finish setting the AR! I hollered a four-letter word as I watched him fall, hoping that he could get up.
Evan competed in the 2012 Olympics as a steepler, an event he first attempted only months before, placing sixth. In 2016, in Rio, he took the Olympic silver medal, and in London 2017, he took the World Championships bronze medal.
Evan battled injuries from 2018 on, and this US Champs was an amazing series of races. Each race, he became more confident.
At the finish, he laid down for a minute to savor the accomplishment, of coming back to fitness after having lost fitness due to injuries over 4 years.
His second-place puts all in perspective. Congrats Evan!
Your workout for today, June 28, 2022 is warm up, 30 minute run, and cooldown.
