Tadesse Abraham has held the Swiss national record in the marathon since March 20, 2016, with her 2:06.40. The Swiss runner won the European Athletics Championships in 2016 at the Half Marathon. In 2018, Tadesse Abraham took second in the European Outdoor Championships Marathon in August 2018.

Today, at the Zurich Marathon, Tadesse Abraham took the Swiss national title and won the marathon in 2:06.38, breaking his NR at two seconds at the age of 39!

ZURICH (SUI, Apr 10): Tadesse Abraham took two seconds from his six-year-old Swiss record with 2:06:38 to win the Zurich Marathon. The time for Abraham, who turns 40 this August, was 13 seconds outside the world M40 record. He also won the national title. In second, Oliver Irabaruta set a Burundian record of 2:07:13. Francis Cheruiyot clocked 2:09:57 for third. Ethiopian Hawas Demitu set a PB of 2:33:08 to win the women’s race. Maude Mathys was second with 2:33:35 (Swiss title) and Anais Sabre was third with 2:37:09.
