The 2022 New Balance Indoor Grand Prix will be the 27th year of this indoor icon.
I have missed one year in the 1990s, and now, in 2022, I will be missing it again, due to the pandemic. RunBlogRun will be covering the meet with Jeff Benjamin’s live coverage of the meet (RunBlogRun Senior East Coast Editor), plus freelance photo support. I will be covering the meet remotely via Peacock TV app and posting on social media, as well as covering the NB presser on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2022.

I love this meet. I am missing the flavor, feel and chemistry of the meet.
Here’s five things to watch at Ocean Breeze T&F on Sunday!

- 1. The 60 meters has some real surprises. The Men’s 60m will feature Noah Lyles, Omar McLeod and Mike Rodgers. These guys know how to race indoors and do not show up when they are not in shape. With only three weeks until the U.S. Indoor Championships in Spokane, WA, sprinters need to compete and NB Indoor and the Ocean Breeze T&F Facility is really, really fast. On the women’s side, the ones to watch are Brianna Williams and Mikiah Brisco.
- 2. The 3000 meters will be one of toughest fields. Jake Wightman, Adel Mechaal and Andrew Butchart will keep the field honest. Watch Luis Grijalva to spoil. One the women’s side, the field may be tougher than the men’s. I am looking at Josette Norris, Gabrielle Debues Stafford and Annie Rodenfiels. Do not forget Amy-Eloise Markovc, the 2021 European Indoor Champ over 3000m. And most importantly, Elle Purrier St. Pierre, will she run a world leading 3000m this weekend? Her 4:19.30 suggests so!
- 3. The 60m hurdles-do not miss it. The Olympic bronze medalist, World Indoor record holder at 60m hurdles and #2 on World outdoor list at 110m hurdles, Grant Holloway will battle Devon Allen, who just won the 2022 MIllrose Games. On the women’s side, Brittany Anderson, Danielle Williams and Christina Clemons will be in the thick of it.
- 4. The Men’s 200 meters. One name, Trayvon Bromell, looks great. Josephus Lyles and Christopher Taylor could be dangerous in this furlong race.
- 5. The miles and the 1,500 meters, never miss them! The Tommy Leonard Mile has 3 fine pacers. With the likes of Colby Alexander, Geordie Beamish, Hobbs Kessler and Johnny Gregorek are there! Watch a world leader emerge! Cory McGee, Dani Jones and Nikki Hiltz will make the Women’s 1,500 meters just fly!
