The 100 meters in Tokyo was crazy. Nothing worked out like the form sheets suggested. Marcell kept his cool and ran his finest races in the semi-final and the final. How does you keep your cool on such a stressful platform?
Marcell Jacobs did. In fact, he seems to be thriving in this new environment as an Olympic champion.
Of his 2022 Lieven race, Marcell told the media:
“I’m really happy to be here and really happy to compete here. It’s an amazing place, an amazing track, but not very happy with my race. It wasn’t a perfect day, I’ve made mistakes. I don’t start very well but I’m happy I have won the race this is important and next week I have the nationals, we will try to improve the season’s best and the personal best. It’s the beginning of the season, I have more races at the World Indoor Championship. The goal was to train for the first part of the race and of course, this first part of the season is also really important to train my 100m, but to win is the most important and I’m happy.
The Organization is amazing, it’s the 3rd year here and it’s fantastic.”
