Nice to see KC Lightfoot cleared 5.90m and 5.95m in Dortmund, Germany. He made good attempts at the 6.03m mark, which would have been a new American record.

DORTMUND (GER, Feb 12): KC Lightfoot cleared 5.90m in the pole vault at the PSD Bank Indoor Meeting in Dortmund (WIT Bronze) before taking some good attempts at a US record height of 6.03m. Bo Kanda Lita Baehre finished second on countback at 5.72m ahead of Oleg Zernikel and Nate Richartz. Track highlights included European 100m silver medallist Gina Luckenkemper winning the women’s 60m in 7.22 ahead of Dutch teenager N’Ketia Seedo in 7.27 and Joris Van Gool from the Netherlands winning the men’s 60m in 6.60 ahead of Germany’s Julian Wagner in 6.62 (he clocked 6.58 in his heat). Poland’s Justyna Swiety-Ersetic opened her season with victory in the 400m in 52.10 ahead of sub-50 outdoor performer Roxana Gomez from Cuba in 52.60 while Czech world indoor champion Pavel Maslak and Romania’s Sorin Mihai Dringo both won their respective 400m races in 47.33. In the distance events, Kenya’s Eglay Nalyanya won the women’s 800m in 2:01.89, Portugal’s Isaac Nader won a competitive men’s 1500m in 3:36.64 from Germany’s Robert Farken (3:37.22) and Ethiopia’s Melkeneh Azeze (3:37.61, all-time U18 best) and American Eleanor Fulton was promoted to victory in the women’s 1500m in 4:09.72 after initial winner Tigist Ketema from Ethiopia was DQ’d for cutting in. Ethiopia’s Abraham Sime also won the two miles in a world lead of 8:25.41 from teammate Nibret Melak in 8:27.18 (Tim Verbaandert from the Netherlands was timed 7:47.42 in 3000 m split). German win for Merle Homeier 647 in the long jump and Lilly Kaden 23.47 in the 200 m.
Update by EME News: KC Lightfoot cleared 5.95m after his 5.90m clearance. He then made good attempts at 6.03m, which would be an American record.
