On Thursday, February 17, 2022, Chris Nilsen won the Meeting de Lieven in 5.91 meters.
This is what he said to the media after his competition:
“It was a great feeling tonight. I felt a little tired at first, but once the bar started to rise a little higher, I felt better throughout the competition, so we stuck with that. Reaching the bar on the first try was the goal of the competition.
I followed in the footsteps of last year, last year I did 5.86m, I got second place and this time I did 5.91 and took first place. I broke another American record. It’s the best day I could have hoped for. The next event is the US Championship, I’m happy to keep it consistent, just hope to do it again.
The goal is to be part of the American team, we have to go there and make the top 2 in the American championship. It will be difficult, but I hope to get there. “
Chris Nilsen is in the top of his form. We wish him luck at the USATF Indoor Championships and at the World Indoor in Belgrade, Serbia.
