LOS ANGELES, CA. January 31, 2022 – In just under two weeks the LA Rams will take on the Cincinnati Bengals in the Super Bowl at the beautiful Sofi Stadium in Inglewood after an estimated 7000 runners toe the line for the 44th Redondo Beach Super Bowl 10K Run/5K Run Walk just down the road in Redondo Beach. These runners will get to compete in and burn off calories in the morning on February 13th and then carbo-load following the race at the Michelob Ultra Beer Garden as they get ready for the Big Game later that afternoon. South Bay Hyundai will unveil their futuristic Ioniq 5, their new electric SUV, as the shiny new pace car to power up the runners for the Redondo Beach Super Bowl 10K. Runners are expected to dress up for the race and the costume contest in the spirit of the Super Bowl in Rams royal blue and gold and Bengals Black and orange. The event features a Health & Fitness Expo starting the day before on Feb. 12th from 10 AM to 4 PM, and from 6 AM to 11 AM on race day.
Super Bowl Sunday, February 13th, the races will take place alongside the Redondo Beach scenic waterfront, with the course winding along the Redondo Beach Harbor.
The Kid’s Fun Run begins at 7 AM, the 10K at 7:30 AM, the 10k Baby Buggy Run at 8:15 AM, and the 5K Run/Walk at 8:30 AM. Entry fees for the 10K are $45, 5K, $45, the Baby Buggy 10K is $45, and the children’s 1K fun run is $25. Runners can still enter the race at https://redondo10k.com. We will be carrying on the tradition for the 44th Annual Super Bowl 10K Run & 5K Run/Walk, which was once the largest 10K Run west of the Mississippi. The start/finish and Expo are at 200 Portofino Way. Akin to a great running party like Bay to Breakers, this event has a lengthy track record of being one of SoCal’s largest and most fun running events in America! Mike Ward of Village Runner Racing is the new event organizer. Major Race sponsors include Memorial Care Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach, Kaiser Permanente, South Bay Hyundai, Michelob Ultra, Nike, and King Harbor Association, Redondo Beach, CA. Race supporters include Village Runner, South Bay Credit Union, Beach Cities Health District, the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau, Athens Services, Adventure Plex at Marine, and Lazy Acres Natural Market.
Expo booths are highlighted by great showing options for athletic shoes and performance clothing at Nike, new electric and other vehicles at South Bay Hyundai, Suja Juice, Koia, and other fun products and services.
There will be a costume contest that takes place during the event where the runners dress up in costumes that showcase their love for the big game and pop culture. Runners have dressed up as Batman, Lady Gaga, Catwoman, or even donning full football uniforms (helmets included) of the team they support in the Super Bow Run.
All runners will receive a custom race shirt and finisher medal. Custom awards will be given to those males and females who finish in the top three in the 5K and 10K runs.
Past runners have included U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials Champion Mark Conover, Irish Olympic runner Regina Joyce, local runner Darcy Arreola, and U.S. Olympians, Jeff Atkinson and Ruth Wysocki.
Following the races, runners (21 & over) can enjoy the beer garden while listening to music at the Michelob Ultra Seaside Lagoon in Redondo Beach.
