Mutaz Barshim won Olympic silver medals in London 2012, Rio 2016 and gold in Tokyo 2021. Barshim also won gold in Doha 2019, London 2017 and silver in Moscow 2013. Add golds and silver in the World Indoors , Birmingham 2018-silver, Sopot 2014-gold, and the numerous Asian Championships, and you have Qatar’s true sport rock star.
Mutaz is a charming interview, and a totally immersed athlete. Barshim is both entertainer and warrior, he puts everything into the pure acts of jumping and he also knows that he is playing a chess game on a global stage.

Well, as he gets into shape for the 2022 season, he has not committed to the World Indoor Tour. That’s okay, because if the MAN in the high jump likes his fitness, you might just see him in Belgrade.

Barshim is not planning indoors
MALMO (SWE): Olympic winner and World champion in high jump Mutaz Essa Barshim is for the moment not planning to compete during the indoor season 2022. But as his agent Daniel Wessfeldt points out, there is always the possibility based on training, that he will change this plan mainly towards the World Indoor Championships in Belgrade. Currently he trains in his usual European base in Sweden.
