The East Bay Cross Country Championship Regionals and Nationals is now, in its 42nd year. It began, all those years ago as the Kinney Cross Country Championships, and moved to the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships.
Over the past 4 decades, the best of the best cross country runners from America’s high schools have competed in this amazing event. The nationals began in San Diego, then, Orlando, and thankfully, returned to San Diego. The iconic nature of Balboa Park, in San Diego gives the East Bay nationals a historic home for the top American high school cross country runners.

Registration Now Open for 42nd Annual Eastbay Cross Country Championship Regionals (Formally Foot Locker Cross Country)
NEW YORK, Oct. 19, 2021 — Top high school cross country runners from across the US will compete in the four Eastbay Cross Country Championship (ECCC) Regionals (formally Foot Locker Cross Country) in hopes of becoming a finalist in the nation’s preeminent Cross Country Championship. After a one year hiatus due to the covid pandemic, high school cross country’s most esteemed and historic race will be back this fall stronger than ever under the Eastbay moniker, and looking to crown the nation’s true girls and boys champions.
Eastbay, a division of Foot Locker, Inc., will now be presenting the longest running high school cross country race in the nation. New Balance continues as a sponsor of the event outfitting the finalists with the latest performance gear head to toe. Comprised of four regional 5K races – the Northeast (Bronx, NY), South (Charlotte, NC) and Midwest (Kenosha, WI) regional races will be held on Saturday, Nov. 27, with the West Regional (Walnut, CA) race held on Saturday, Dec. 4. More than 10,000 of the nation’s leading high school runners are expected to compete in these regional meets.

The top ten finishers from each seeded regional race qualify for the Eastbay Cross Country National Finals (Dec. 11 in San Diego) and will join the likes of past Olympians Meb Keflezighi, Galen Rupp, Deena Kastor, Alan Webb, Kara Goucher and Ryan Hall along with this year’s Olympians Sara Hall, Cory McGee, Elle Purrier St. Pierre, Emily Sisson, Matt Centrowitz, Cole Hocker, Grant Fisher and 2021 Olympic Marathon Bronze Medalist, Molly Seidel.
