Conversations with Larry:
In praise of pop-up or bespoke
Track Meets in 2021

In this short convo with Larry (about 10 minutes), I contend that much of the success in 2020 and 2021 is the emergence of the bespoke track meets, from Sound Running, to American Track League to Miles of Trials. Now, while I do believe that there must be standards by which the meets are shown via streaming video, I want to see the federations and sponsors support these meets. The meet directors have that ‘vision thing’ and many are raising money to make their dreams a reality.
These meets have personalized track and field for many fans and a new generation of athletes. Thanks to the bespoke meet directors, and their teams, as their events have, in many ways, opened up the hearts and minds of many of the fans.
