This is Stuart Weir’s column on GB Athletes in action at the Gyulai Memorial. Stuart Weir does this column on GB athletes at each and every major meeting. We are doing the same thing with American athletes now.

GB Athletes in action
Women
200m
Desiree Henry seventh in 23.17 – still struggling to get back to where she was before injury
400m
Nicole Yeargin sixth in 51.95
Laviai Nielsen seventh in 52.82
A dream year for Yeargin. A few months ago, no other had heard of her and now she is on her way to the Olympics. A disappointing season for Laviai who had only made the relay squad for Tokyo.
Long jump
Abigail Irozuru second with 6.64. Solid performance with three jumps over 6.50 after struggles with injuries and lack of training facilities during the pandemic.
Men
100m
Adam Gemili fifth in 10.14, his first 100m of the year
200m
Adam Gemili fourth 20.41. Getting sharper. In Tokyo, he will run 200m and relay.
100m hurdles
David King second in 13.49, another good performance for the Tokyo-bound athlete.
Discus
Lawrence Okoye fourth with 64.17 but he managed only 2 legal jumps out of six.
Hammer
Taylor Campbell eighth 73.24m
