EUGENE (USA, Apr 24): At the USATF Grand Prix (WACT Gold) at renewed Hayward Field, Shaunae Miller-Uibo blasted to a stadium record and world lead of 49.08 in the 400m to win by more than one second from Lynna Irby (50.28) and Jessica Beard (50.38) and Puerto Rico’s Jasmine Camacho-Quinn backed up her recent 12.32 world lead in the 100m hurdles with a 12.46 (-0.3) clocking in cold and drizzly conditions. There were also dominant wins in the 100m for Trayvon Bromell over Noah Lyles, 10.01 (-0.2, also in heats 10.01 +0.3) to 10.17, and for Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare who clocked 10.97 (+1.2) in the women’s 100m ahead of Morolake Akinosun in 11.09. Elsewhere in the sprints, Trinidad & Tobago’s Jereem Richards won the 200m in 20.26 (-1.3) and Mike Norman defeated training partner Rai Benjamin in the 400m, 44.67 to 44.97.

In field events, Rudy Winkler set a huge world lead of 81.98m in the men’s hammer while Brooke Anderson upset world champion DeAnna Price in the women’s hammer, 77.99m to 76.15m. Fellow world champion Anderson Peters from Grenada won the men’s javelin with 82.72m and Chase Ealey won a competitive shot put with 18.93m. There were three British wins in the women’s distance events: Adelle Tracey over Jemma Reekie in the 800m, 2:03.25 to 2:03.26, and for Laura Muir in the 1500m (4:01.54) and Eilish McColgan in the 5000m (14:52.44). Australia’s Ollie Hoare also won the men’s 1500m in an outdoor lifetime best of 3:33.54 over Canadian Justyn Knight 3:35.85 and 800 m World champion Donavan Brazier 3:37.58. Steeple saw the third World lead of the meet 8:17.74 by Isaac Updike over Mason Ferlic 8:18.49, for both big PB´s. Winners of jumps were Marquis Dendy 798 (+1.6), Donald Scott 16.89 (+0.2, Christian Taylor third 16.52), Rachel McCoy 187, and Tori Franklin 14.10 (+0.7).
