This new ten meet series will give U.S. athletes some chances to compete in the pandemic era.
USATF announces 2021 Journey To Gold – Tokyo Outdoor Track & Field Series
INDIANAPOLIS — USA Track & Field is pleased to announce its upcoming Journey to Gold – TokyoOutdoor Track & Field Series, offering high-level competitive opportunities for its professional athletes and Olympic hopefuls, prize money and additional opportunities for World Athletics rankings points. The Journey to Gold – Tokyo Series will consist of ten (10) meets in eight cities providing over $1 Million in prize money. The first competition of the series will be Saturday, April 3 with meets held through Sunday, June 6.
“Working with our partners all over the country, we’ve put together a fantastic schedule, providing athletes with much-needed, high level competitions,” said USATF CEO Max Siegel.
The events will provide a range of opportunities to score higher World Athletics ranking points, an important component for World Rankings and entry into international championships events and the Olympic Games. Specifics on World Athletics designations, broadcast information, the events being staged at each meet and the prize money schedules for each will be forthcoming.
