Obiri wins Kenyan CC
MACHAKOS (KEN, Nov 28): At the first leg of the Athletics Kenya Cross Country Series in Machakos, two-time world 5000m champion Hellen Obiri won the women’s 10km in 32:29.2 from Caroline Nyaga in 32:46.8 with Bahrain’s Winfred Yavi third in 32:47.5. Gladys Cherono was fourth 33:11.8. Beatrice Chepkoech was a notable DNF, pulling out after 6km. “With the World Cross Country Championships having been postponed to 2022, I will concentrate my energies on Olympics,” said Obiri. Daniel Simiyu won the senior men’s 10km in 28:27.7 ahead of Isaack Kibet 28:54.6 and Elvis Cheboi 28:54.8. With help from Daily Nation.
