KINGSTON (JAM, Aug 8): The Velocity Fest series moved to Jamaica’s National Stadium in Kingston after hosting the first three at Ashenheim Stadium, Jamaica College. The meet was held over two days with continued strict health protocols. The 100m women were the most outstanding with Shelly Ann Fraser Pryce, 11.28 -2.7, followed 2 hours later with 10.87 +1.4 fastest in the World for 2020 and Elaine Thompson Herah, 11.41 -1.0, followed 2 hours later with 10.88 +0.3 2nd fastest in the World for 2020. Shanieka Ricketts triple jumped 14.21 (-0.6) season best. Jamaican record holder Fedrick Dacres won the men’s discus with his 4th round 64.45m ahead of Chad Wright 63.24m on his 5th throw. Hurdler Janieve Russell topped the 400 m in 51.74 over Shericka Jackson 51.76 (season best). Stephanie-Ann McPherson won the other race in 52.20. In second 100 m men´s round, Tyquendo Tracey was the fastest in 10.20 (+0.1) over Romario Williams 10.21 PB. In other race Nesta Carter 10.20 also (+0.1) over Oshane Bailey 10.24.
