OSTRAVA (CZE): World discus champion Daniel Stahl heads more athletes confirmed for the 59th Ostrava Golden Spike on 8 September (World Athletics Continental Tour). Stahl, who organisers hope will post the meeting’s first 70m throw, will be joined by sprinter Dafne Schippers and high jumper Gianmarco Tamberi. Stahl will be challenged by Andrius Gudzius, Kristjan Ceh and Marek Barta. Tamberi will be joined in the high jump by home athlete Marek Bahnik. Former world 200m champion Schippers will take on a 150m. “I have never run a 150m at a top meet – I think the distance could be the right one for me,” she said. “Am I able to break the all-time best? That depends on a few things, but the track is fast so let’s give it a try.” Ajla del Ponte who clocked this year European all-time best 16.67 will also be in the field against Schippers.
