Seb Coe has to be ‘ball park frank’ on the Christian Coleman / Wherabouts fiasco. The Athletics Integrity Unit seems to be in a place where there is little room on negotiations.
But, Seb Coe is being watched. As Nike is his former sponsor, Lord Coe is in a no win situation. The last thing he would want is his top star to be banned, but, the integrity of the sport is key, and Coe has to look at the big picture. A challenging situation for the World Athletics President.
Seb Coe, to his credit, stays in touch with the media. He knows that perception is reality.
LONDON (GBR): World Athletics President Sebastian Coe said for some of the British media there is no option for 100 m World champion Christian Coleman to achieve “some sort of deal” to compete at next year’s Olympics as the American fights a potential two-year ban from athletics. Based on AIU way of dealing with such a cases there is no space for deals.
