Jakob record 13:28, his 14 years old sister 18:00
STAVANGER (NOR, May 20): Running in a special road race in Stavanger this evening, Jakob Ingebrigtsen set a pending Norwegian road running record for 5 km with 13:28. The previous record was 13:37 set by Sondre Nordstad Moen at the 5 km Herculis in Monaco in February, 2019. Setting out in a tiny field of just five runners on a bicycle path, Ingebrigtsen, 19, stayed tucked in the pack for the early kilometers with his brother Henrik, 29. They hit the halfway mark in 7:00 before the two brothers broke away and picked up the pace as they were behind record schedule. Jakob broke away from Henrik in the final kilometer to finish alone in front of a small group of spectators who were kept several meters away from the field of play. Henrik finished second in 13:32. Third Per Svela 13:40. Rhonex Kipruto holds the ratified road world record at 13:18, but Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei clocked 12:51 in February, which is pending ratification, European record of Jimmy Gressier is 13:18. Best female Vienna Dahle clocked 16:14, fastest in girls U15 was 14 years old sister of the winner Ingrid Ingebrigtsen 18:00. With the help from RRW and World Athletics.
