You think that you have a tough job. I sure do not envy Seb Coe. He has dealt with one cluster storm after another. As Thomas Bach continues to spout off on how the Olympics will be held on time, it is not really an option for Lord Coe to come out with a different opinion from the first or second most important Summer Olympic sport.
Coe about the situation
MONACO (MON): World Athletics President Sebastian Coe has admitted some athletes will be at a disadvantage at the 2020 Olympics, if they go ahead, due to restrictions placed upon them by the spread of the coronavirus, informs PA. “Recent evidence suggests China seems to be pulling out of this, but if you are living in Europe and you are an Italian distance runner and you are confined to your house, that is a massive challenge. Our sport has always been about fairness and a level playing field, so we shouldn’t feel ashamed to set that as our ambition. The reality is that may not be possible in every case, but we want to do what we can to drill down on that. Some are not able to train properly, some are not able to access public tracks or indoor facilities and we are working to try to help them find these facilities,” he said.
MONACO (MON): Sebastian Coe has said it is still too early to cancel the Olympic Games in Tokyo, informs BBC Sport. “Let’s not make a precipitous decision when we don’t have to four months out. If you had to ease that date, you’d have to ease it. Anything is possible,” he said.
