Mariya Lasitskene is a 3 time world champion in the high jump. She is the finest high jumper of her era, and perhaps, the finest athlete in the her country, Russia. Due to being from Russia, Mariya has not been able to compete in an Olympics. As an ANA athlete, Mariya should be able to compete in the 2021 version of Tokyo.

MOSCOW (RUS): High jump three-time world champion Mariya Lasitskene said that she isn’t upset about postponing of Tokyo Olympics. “I’ve been waiting for my Olympic debut 27 years, so I can wait one year more. I believe that there is nothing more important than people’s health, and I really want the world to go through all this with minimal loss. The Olympics are now moving into the background. First you need to deal with the health of a large number of people, stop the spread of the virus, and then solve other issues. Of course, I would like much more if Games were postponed to the autumn 2020, because the postponement to 2021 will lead to a shift in a large number of previously planned competitions. But the decision was made, and there is no sense to get upset,” Lasitskene told Kommersant media.
