Germany’s Konstanze Klosterhalfen broke the European indoor 5000m record and Karissa Schweizer set an AR indoor at 3000m on Thursday night at the famed BU Last Chance Invitational.
Three World leads in Boston
BOSTON (USA, Feb 27): Konstanze Klosterhalfen broke the European 5000m indoor record with 14:30.79 World lead at the BU Last Chance Invitational. Also under 15 minutes were Vanessa Fraser 14:48.51 and Emily Infeld 14:51.91. Karissa Schweizer broke the US indoor 3000m record with 8:25.70 World lead. Shelby Houlihan and Colleen Quigley, in second and third in 8:26.66 and 8:28.71 were also under the old mark. Lopez Lomong won the 3000m in 7:37.34. Ryan Hill was second in 7:38.03 and Evan Jager was third in 7:38.25. Josh Thompson won the 1500m in 3:34.77, another World lead over Brannon Kidder 3:36.51 and Abraham Alvarado 3:36.82. Briton James West as fourth clocked 3:36.93.
