NAIROBI (KEN): World 800m record-holder David Rudisha will benefit from the postponement of the Olympics until next year as he bids to return to full fitness, his coach Colm O’Connell said. The London 2012 champion has not raced since 2017 and has gained weight. “It is no secret his only route to Tokyo is through the trials where he had to finish in the top three, which looked unlikely because the trials were very close,” said O’Connell. “He is not in his best shape or close to his standards. Pushing the Olympics back will benefit him.” From standardmedia.co.uk.
