The young Polish star opens the 2020 season in style, with his 21.88m WL in Ostrava. Bukowiecki had come in from Dusseldorf for the Feb 5 event. I hope to visit Ostrava soon to see both indoor and outdoor events.

OSTRAVA (CZE, Feb 5): World leading 21.88 shot put by Konrad Bukowiecki highlighted the 4th edition of Czech Indoor Gala (EA Indoor Premium) in Ostrava before full hall. And he did it after early morning travel from Dusseldorf. Home hero Tomas Stanek after same trip was only fourth 20.92, beaten by Italian Leonardo Fabbri 21.11 indoor PB and Portugal´s Francisco Belo 20.94. Fans were happy to see the win and equalled national record by Klara Seidlova in women 60 m with 7.23. Another top home win by Lada Vondrova in European lead and indoor PB 52.25 in the 400 m ahead of Poland´s Patrycja Wyciskiewicz 52.65. Serbian record for Elzan Bibic after 3000 m in Karlsruhe also here in the 1500 m with 3:38.94 win clearly beating Moroccan Brahim Kaazouzi and improved Italian Enrico Ricobbon 3:40.89. Another meet record in men´s 800 m by Collins Kipruto 1:46.38 and Ethiopian Lemlem Hailu 4:05.48 in the 1500 m over Tigist Ketema 4:07.40. European champion Miltiadis Tentoglou won the long jump 804 and top Slovak win by Stanislava Skvarkova in the hurdles with 8.09 PB. Tina Sutej from Slovenia beat on count-back Robeilys Peinado in pole vault, both 462 meet record. Michal Desensky won the 400 m in 46.65 over Dutch Tony van Diepen 46.79. Yulia Chumachenko won the high jump with 192 and Briton Oliver Bromby 6.63 with Mario Burke of Barbados 6.64 beat in the 60 m final the local favorite Zdenek Stromsik 6.67. In total in 7 events new meet records were registered.
