Jakob Ingebrigtsen is one of Europe’s finest athletic stars. The youngest of the three Ingebrigtsen brothers, Jakob Ingebrigtsen has had an amazing 2019. I finally met him, a Dusseldorf, at the end of the 2019 IAAF World Indoor tour. Ingebrigtsen defeated Samuel Tefara over 1,500m, less that a week after Tefara had upset Yomif Kejelcha over 1,500m and set the indoor WR. Three weeks later, Jakob won the gold in the 3000m and silver at the 1,500m at the European Indoors, March 1-3.
This past weekend, Jakob Ingebrigtsen did battle with 2016 Olympic bronze medalist Hagos Gebrhewit over 5000m, and finished second in 13:02.03, a new PB, Ingebrigtsen family record, and the Norwegian National record of 13:02.03.
Andy Edwards of Race News Service interviewed Jakob after his record on 20 July 2019.
