Sifan Hassan set the world for the mile last weekend in Monaco. The 4:12.33 that she ran on 12 July 2019, breaking a world record held for 23 years by Svetlana Masterkova, 1996 Olympic champion at 800m and 1,500m. The mile WR was thought to unbreakable. Au contraire, mes amis. On 30 June, Sifan ran 8:18.48 for 3000m, then, 4:12.33 at the mile on 12 July, and at the London DL, she took third in the 5000m, with an EL 14:22.12 on 21 July. This interview was done by Andy Edwards on 19 July at the London presser. Sifan Hassan is an amazing athlete, and she is competing in the 5000m and 10,000m in Doha.
