Hassan faster second 800 m
MONACO (MON): Sifan Hassan spoke afterwards at her surprise at breaking the world mile record after going through 800m in only 2:08. She said: “It’s amazing to run a world record that way,” she said after her 4:12.33 run. “I knew I could run fast but the first 800m was a bit slow so I was not thinking world record so I was surprised when I crossed the line. A world record gives you confidence and I want to double over 1500 and 5000 in Doha.” From AW. Her splits comparing with Masterkova 1996 World record were 65.0 to 62.1 in the 400 m and 2:08.9 to 2:06.8 in the 800 m, but fast next lap made it to her favor at 1200 m 3:10.5 to 3:12.61. Hassan was also faster in the 1500 m split 3:55.30 to 3:56.77. She got last 800 m 2:01.9 comparing to 2:04.3 of Masterkova, but 60.2 in the final 400 m comparing to 59.0 by the Russian.
