The Luzern Meeting is quite popular and has stars of Swiss athletics, and some of the top global stars. The July 9 meet was exceptional, with sprints, jumps and some big throws. EME News provided an update on Luzern. We’ve provided some social media insights.

Barber 67.70 meet record, Simbine beats Vicaut
LUZERN (SUI, Jul 9): The top two in each of the men’s and women’s javelin events at Spitzenleichtathletik meet (EA Premium) produced their best in the last round. Kelsey-Lee Barber added more than two metres to her PB with 67.70 – just 2cm off the world lead. Also a new meeting record. Second was Tatsiana Khaladovich 66.18m, followed by Christin Hussong 64.62 and Sara Kolak 64.35. Thomas Rohler 86.51m and Andreas Hofmann 86.45m fought out the men’s event. Akani Simbine won the 100m with 10.06 (-0.3) ahead of Jimmy Vicaut 10.11 and Arthur Gue Cisse 10.12 with Asafa Powell fourth 10.17.
Alysha Newman 4.66m won the pole vault from Tina Sutej 4.61 (equalled her NR) and Angelica Bengtsson 456. Tadese Worku took the 3000m in 7:43.24 from Edward Cheserek 7:43.47 and Julien Wanders 7:43.62 PB. Tynia Gaither clocked 22.69 (-0.7) to win the 200m with Crystal Emmanuel 22.90 and Mujinga Kambundji 22.90.

Kyree King won the B 200m final 20.51 (-0.8) ahead of Brendon Rodney 20.52 and Akeem Bloomfield the A race in 20.53 (-0.5). Other winners included: Tobi Amusan (12.89 in the 100m hurdles, -0.9), Sarah McDonald (2:00.84 in the 800m), Abdelmalik Lahoulou (49.43 in the 400m hurdles ahead of Briton Chris McAlister 49.62 PB). Women 100 m winner was Gina Luckenkemper in 11.20 (-1.0), second with the same 11.20 Natalliah Whyte and third 11.21 for Tatjana Pinto. Chinese Xie Wenjun won the men´s 110 m hurdles in 13.45 (-0.9). Jamaicans dominated women 400 m hurdles, Nikita Tracey 55.44 ahead of Rhonda Whyte 55.72. South Africans were 1-2 in long jump, Ruswahl Samaai 818 (+0.8) and Zarck Visser 791 (+0.7).
