The London Diamond League meeting will be held on 20 and 21 July 2019. It is held in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic anniversary Stadium, and, until last year was well attended. Last year was an anomaly, as the World Cup was just prior to the DL. Spencer Barden puts together the fields for the British Athletics meetings, indoors and out. He brings together the finest athletes in the world, and he also has to juggle the needs of BBC TV and sponsors. In July 2019, he will have Wayde Van Niekerk and Mutaz Esa Barshim, two of the biggest stars in the sport.
Both Van Niekerk and Barshim are coming back from injuries, and London DL will play a big part in their preps for Doha World Championships.

LONDON (GBR): Six current world champions have been added to the field for the London Diamond League on 20-21 July. Wayde van Niekerk hopes to have returned fully from long-term injury by then to compete in the 400m at the Olympic stadium at which he won one-lap gold two years ago. Sally Pearson returns to the scene of Olympic win in 2012 as well as her 2017 world title. Karsten Warholm (400m hurdles), Mutaz Essa Barshim (high jump) and Christian Taylor (triple jump) will also compete. For Barshim a competition after injury break. The athletes were announced by various British athletes and celebrities every hour today.
