Great Britain’s Laura Muir is confirmed for the Meeting de Montreuil, a European Athletics Classic Permit Meeting, on 11 June which will be her first race on French soil since the Paris Diamond League in 2016 when she set a British 1500m record of 3:55.22.
RunBlogRun congratulates www.europeanathletics.org on their use of social media and attracting young readers.
After winning the European outdoor 1500m title in Berlin last summer, Muir defended her 1500m and 3000m titles at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow in March. Muir also broke the 15 minute-barrier for 5000m during the indoor season but she will be stepping down in distance to contest the 800m in Montreuil.
Her range is such that Muir finished the indoor season with the fastest time in Europe over 800m with 1:59.50 as well as European-leading marks over three other distances: 1500m (4:01.84), 3000m (8:30.61) and 5000m (14:52.02).
Muir will open her outdoor season on the roads at the Vitality Westminster Mile on Sunday. Her first track race will be over 1500m in the Stockholm Diamond League on 30 May followed by the Rome Diamond League on 6 June.
