The European Athletics Indoor Permit series is continuing to grow. We hope to visit some of the events to see athletes prior to the European Indoor Champs in Glasgow.
The European Athletics Indoor Permit Meeting calendar has increased to 16 meetings in 2019 as the continent’s top athletes get ready for the Glasgow 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships.
Next year – with all the meetings being held in January and February before Glasgow 2019 takes place between 1-3 March – sees an increase of five meetings over 2018.
The series gets underway on 27 January with the Meeting de Paris in the French capital’s famed Bercy indoor arena.
French meetings bracket the series with the All Star Perche event in Clermont-Ferrand on 24 February.
Last year’s Clermont-Ferrand meeting proved to be one of the highlights of the indoor season as a record seven men cleared 5.88m or better and Mondo Duplantis, the recently-crowned joint winner of the European Athletics Rising Star award, gave a prelude of his summer feats by clearing a world U20 record height of 5.88m.
France will stage no less than five of the 2019 European Athletics Indoor Permit Meetings but the remainder of the meetings are spread across the length and breadth of Europe – from Iceland to Turkey and Sweden to Serbia – as the 11 other meetings take place in 11 different Member Federations.
The full calendar can be seen here.
