Plans of Bondarenko
KYIV (UKR): After being operated last winter, former world and European champion in men’s high jump Bohdan Bondarenko started his preparation for new season. Before coming to the altitude training camp in Sestriere 10 days ago, 29-year-old Ukrainian had three weeks in Formia, Italy. “In November we traditionally has something like functional ‘shake-up’. If even we weren’t too lucky with the weather in the mountings, we managed to fulfill all planned basic work for overall body strengthening,” Bohdan’s coach and father Viktor Bondarenko told EME NEWS. He also noted: “This year we were forced to change our training strategy. Bohdan will have much more jumping trainings instead of lifting, which makes problem to his knees and back. In December we’ll go to the training camp in Turkey, where we plan to start technical practices. Based on the results, we’ll make decision about performances during coming winter. Bohdan didn’t perform for more than a year. Certainly, he would like to come back into the field as soon as possible, but probability of competing during the indoor season is too low,” added Viktor Bondarenko. His last competition was Zurich Weltklasse Diamond League final in 2017 where he was third with 231.
